NOW we're in St. Louis

Sorry to everyone...didn't realize I hadn't updated in soooo long. If you didn't know...Mike's surgery in St. Louis was postponed on the 17th. He was transported today though and surgery is set for tomorrow, Dec. 3rd at noon. He made the trip ok and was in pretty good spirits tonight. We expect to be here for 3 or 4 days at the least and then on to KANSAS! I have some rehab set up for him close to home and it will be so nice not to have to travel so much anymore! I'll let everyone know how surgery goes tomorrow.

Another postponement

Well, I received bad news today....Surgery has been postponed until December 3rd. Apparently St. Louis won't be ready for him on the 17th so they have had to postpone his surgery until then. Was so hoping to get him back in Kansas by Thanksgiving but that has been blown out of the water. The waiting is very hard. Mike so wants to come home but we still have too many obstacles before that can happen. I'll post in a couple of days after I go see him this weekend.

Back to St. Louis

Well...it's official.....we're headin back to St. Louis Nov. 17th is the scheduled surgery date and I'm not sure what day they will move him there (I know it will be a few days before) or HOW he's gettin there. The results of the MRI were negative so that's a good thing but just adds to the confusion as to why there are a few changes that would make you think he had one. Mike continues to be frustrated and bored but there's not alot we can do until the skull is put back in. At least now we know it is in the near future and we're once again taking a step forward!

Progress

Mike has been transferred into the "acute rehab" unit of the hospital as of Wednesday. What this means is that he will now be receiving a minimum of 3 hours of therapy per day and more if he can tolerate it. He has also received a new "team" that will be working with him. They have begun to allow him to stand in a special device that holds him up and it wears him out. The feeding tube should be coming out hopefully before long because they have started him on a soft diet and are working with him to be able to feed himself.
